2009/08/26 Cursed satellite dish seeks new family to haunt (Baldwin IL, 62217 please mapquest ) Date: 2009-08-26, 10:21AM CDT Reply to: sale-bqhvj-1343165001@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] ***YES, I am giving away an actual dish, does NOT include receiver, remote, service, counseling or delivery.*** (JUST a dish for the craigslist impaired) Okay folks, this isn't your garden variety satellite dish that you get with your service from direct tv. This dish is special as it contains the spirit of a vile and retched soul. How could I possibly know this you ask? It's quite simple you see... Everyone knows from the commercials that direct tv is rated higher in customer service than even charter. *insert eye roll here please* Everyone knows that direct tv has fabulous entertainment packages at great prices. Why would I want to part with such a gem you ask? Simple, this dish in particular is most certainly cursed. Since I already have a teenager there is no room in my home for any more wrathful fits. My loss is your gain. Be the envy of all your goth and psychic friends by channeling pure evil into your home. Although I do not have a name for this evil presence as of yet there are many choice words which can describe it. I thought naming it fifi or princess would help me rid myself of the curse faster but that simply isn't fair. You must know what you are getting into. Symptoms of the curse so you can prepare yourself: *Repeated spam phone calls on a daily basis to offer you specials. After canceling service the calls will continue but ask why you disconnected and if you would come back. They will seem eager to make things right again. *To add insult to injury no less than 27 people will ask you if there is any way they can help you throughout your service but never actually do anything to help you. I consider these calls a bonus. Who doesn't love lip service? Who doesn't like sunshine blown up their rear when their service has problems? *There is a slight chance that the $50 visa gift card we were promised would automatically come after we signed up for automatic bill pay will follow this cursed item to your home. After 4 calls to customer service and a PROMISE that the correct department would look into it over a year ago I am positive it will come. No one as reputable as direct tv would commit fraud or use deceiving advertising. *Please note the service package you order online to accompany this dish will not include all the channels you thought you were going to get. Don't bother calling to mention it though. This cursed dish will hack into their system and will use it's powers to change their website design overnight. Although you would have printed proof there will be no way to enforce it. They will they mockingly ask if you want to add those channels for an extra $5. *When you call back the following week after calming down to add said channels they would have gone up to $12. *CAUTION: when you think you are signing your soul away for a 12 month contract it will expand into 18 months the first time you call to inquire when you may disconnect. This dish will hold onto your credit info as hostage. *When the extra receiver goes bad they will expect you to pay a marginally qualified tech $50 to scratch his head, agree that the box is in fact the problem and deliver another one. I found declining such service, returning the second box and changing my high end package to the $19.99 one to be most effective. This dish, although cursed has many practical uses: *Add mirrors from your disco ball and turn it into a solar death ray. *Great for little people to use as a sled *Dog food bowl for your rabid pit bull *Potentially can become a wormhole for travel to the inner most depths of hades *Deflects well wishers and Christmas carolers. *Sharpen it's edges and play a game of ultimate death frisbee. *bird bath *flower planter *your kids can take a demonic item to school for show and tell. I am attaching pictures of a similar dish. While I would love to take pictures of the actual dish it has thwarted my attempts to do so. It has scrambled the digital signal. Right now I am typing quietly so it does not know my intentions. Please come get this item. I must rid my family of it but am afraid that burning it would release it's toxic spirit fumes into the atmosphere. I have already tried to throw it away but it just came back. It was polluting the landfill. As such you must accept the curse along with the dish when you come get it. You assume all risk and liability of this item once you pick it up. We will be glad to load it or even throw it in the back of your truck as you drive by.
2009/08/23 Cardinals Chat Does anyone else think this Cardinals season feels like the season did when the Rams won the Superbowl? I'm watching the Cards smoke the Padre's in the 4th inning 5-0. I can't remember the last time we had 8 games up on the Cubbies. If we don't make it to the World Series I will be amazed. All are welcome to visit my chat room and chat during the Cardinals game with other fans. Saint Louis chat... KSHE & Cardinals fans Cash for ClunkersI think some of the car dealers having trouble getting their money from the Gov will just say screw it, & re sell these cars for more than Uncle Obama would give them anyway. What do you think?Below is Copied from a rant & rave posting in Saint Louis craigslistCashing in the Clunker (Webster.)Date: 2009-08-22, 11:08PM CDT

I have been driving around to car dealerships a
couple times a week since this clunker or a program got started. There
are multitudes of things that bother me with this program. I am a
mechanic, and also a car enthusiast. I have also spoken to a few car
salesmen and sales managers about the vehicles they are taking in.
PostingID: 13374766141. The majority of vehicles given up as clunkers appear to be in very decent shape, serviceable, and somewhat well taken care of. 2. Many vehicles I have observed could be sold on the private market for more than the 3500-4500 government allowance. 3. The cars should not be crushed. There are many charities including Goodwill that auction older vehicles for proceeds to help the sick, needy, and recovering. 4. It would make sense to sell these cars for parts to the general public. That is what the typical salvage yard does in day to day business. The government could then re-coup a large portion of the rebate cost. 5. Don't sell the scrap metal to Chinese companies. Thats where the majority of our scrap goes in this country, and they turn around and sell it back to us as new steel. 6. If you aren't trading in and getting a clunker allowance, your still paying for Joe Blow's new car with your tax money. Look at your paycheck deductions and tell me that doesn't piss you off. 7. Buy an American car. I know the Honda sounds delightful, I own one. (Bought it used) But if you are buying new, help your fellow American out. That, besides the cut throat unions, and government meddling in industry and free market, is how we arrived with the current state of affairs. 8. Don't join a union. Here is a clue. The old union pay scale provides wages much higher than what all the non union foreign owned automakers pay their American employees, and therein lies the problem. It costs the automaker too much to build a car. If cost was lower they would have had a vehicle to compete with the ol Toyotas and Hondas. Kia's and Hyundai's are cheap because they are building them in Korea....the employees don't make 25 dollars an hour to attach screws to the dashboards. The UAW, while noble in theory, along with government over regulation have strangled the research and development teams of the now subsidized American auto industry. Its unfortunate, but the Labor Union mentioned above has devolved into a left leaning profit gobbling leverage machine. Its not about getting a fair wage for the laborer. It is simply maximizing the wages to draw an ever larger percentage of membership dues. If you have ever run a business you know that wages and cost can not continue to go up forever without causing a failure in the purse strings of the Corp. 9. I am forcasting a large increase in auto repo's. Think housing boom and bust with 4 wheels attached to it. If Freddy needed and extra $4500 to make that loan go thru, where is he going to be at sales tax and property tax time? 10. Can you say...BANK BAILOUT? What happens when the government entices hundreds of thousands (or more) of people to get out of their paid off car and jump into a 60 or 72 month loan? Increased revenues to all the large banks that handle auto finance. The same banks that were bailed out with our tax dollars and are now partially owned by Uncle Sam. Almost sounds like a money making scheme.....Uncle Sam owns chunks of the banks, and pushes for a large auto loan rush...Who smells the dead fish in the room, and why is no one talking about it???? 11. When I was 16 I purchased my own first car. When I asked my Mom to help me get a car, she told me "Buy it yourself, you'll respect it more." I found that to be true. I found an old 1970 Dodge Dart. It was pink. I bought her for $400, and drove her home. Over that summer I taught myself and a close friend how to rebuild that old wreck and by the start of my senior year the ol Dart was taking us to school everyday. Since then, I have owned 54 cars. I've never wreck one and never lost money on one, other than normal wear and tear. I recently got an old 1989 Ford F150 with a dent in the door, because I needed a pickup to haul crap around. It needed brakes, a clutch, a steering box, and tires. I did it all myself for under $700 bucks. Its not a new truck, but it sure drives like one. Now imagine the kick in the face when I counted 12 Ford F150's on the lot tonight with clunker tags on them. They had shiny paint, and the nice wheels mine lacks, newer tires, and an un-dented doors, that mine could really use. I busted my butt to get my old truck in working order, so does my little brother..he has a 68 Chevy C10. We bought ours, we work hard, we make money....decent money...and yet I see all these taxes coming out of my check. The Government is taking my money from my labor away from me, so that Joe Blow can dump a serviceable vehicle, take our money and get himself a new ride. It brings back the talk of Obama's redistribution style of government. These are just the thoughts of a educated guy that works 60 hours a week, and is happy for the work. I refuse to take a handout when I can do for myself. Thats what made this country strong in its infancy. Did you know that once upon a time...in the 1950's over 90% of what we bought or consumed in the US was grown or made here. Now it is under 25% No country will survive when it takes in more than it produces. That would be like Wal-Mart buying 150 boxes of widgets every month while it only sells 3 widgets a month. Its not a perfect ratio, but you get my drift.

You are right "Webster" and might I add further insult to injury that
with what we ve already shelled out to the auto industry the prices
should have already been 3500-4500 lower on the domestic brands,,so
effectivly we just bailed out the imports too, and as far as whats
going to the scrap yards did you know the engines on these clunker
trade ins had to be destroyed so these cars couldnt be resold or the
engines used to keep somebody elses older car running that didnt
qualify because was either too old (or paid for) to qualify for this
scam
PostingID: 1337646237All I can say is we should keep in mind what has happened when we vote in 2010&2012 ,,is a fact that if those who dont normally vote were to vote 3rd party we could have a chance to really see a change back to the the foundations of what made our country great in the 1st place

I am deeply saddened that my dear Friend Val, has passed away.
She has been a customer of my pool service since the early 90's and had became a dear friend as well. I often thought of her as a second Mom to me. I would always have my annual Birthday Swim & BBQ parties at her home. She really enjoyed meeting my friends and letting me have them there. She was such a super host, and I for one will really miss her. I would also often visit her and watch Cardinals & Blues games with her along with her or I'd bring some DVD's to sit & watch too. I will certainly cherish the fond memories of all the good times we had and I will certainly miss her cooking. :) Now that she's made it to Heaven, I hope she gets to meet the rest of my Family too.

I overheard someone say "We need more people like Val in this world.
How True ! She was generous, caring, loyal, kind and self-sacrificing.
She had a heart of gold filled with love. And what a great sense of
humor! She was quick-witted and it was a joy to be in her presence. We
have lost a gem. We will never forget her.

No words can adequately express the depth of my feeling. I have lost a
dear friend. We will all miss her but she will live on for us, in
sterling memories. She possessed great personal charm and
understanding. She captured the imagination and affection of all her
associates. None who were privileged to be associated with her in
communal, humanitarian, professional or social life failed to be
impressed by her sweetness, convinced of her sincerity and enriched by
her warmth. May she rest in peace and may God give condolence and
comfort to her family and many many friends.

Words alone cannot express the sorrow I feel in the loss of a Dear
Friend of 40 years. Her spirit lives on and always will. The times we
laughed are in the memories of us whose lives she touched. The memories
will remain forever. Rest in peace Dear Friend .
