El Monstero Y Los Masked Avengers "Wish You Were Here: A Tribute To
Pink Floyd"

Quotes from others......

It Will Rock Your Face Off!

December 27th, 2005

So on Friday night, I went to my final concert of 2005 – El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers. Let me give you some brief descriptions. Packed. Loud. Fire. Costumes. Lasers. Smoke. Flames. Pot. Lots of it. But not mine of course. The Machine. Expensive beer. 20 minute bathroom line. Stir. Joe Dirt. Dr. Chivegas (sp?). King of the Hill. 3 hours long. Sexy back up singers. KSHE. 3 nights. Floyd. Rock!

El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers perform a tribute to Pink Floyd every year. This year, they performed three shows that were all sold out. El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers is basically a supergroup of former STL bands – Stir, the Urge, King of the Hill, Joe Dirt, and Dr. Chivegas. This was the fifth year that the band has put on the show and they say that 2005 was the largest selling year.

The show was really intense and the band did an amazing job. So amazing that if you closed your eyes, you would swear that you were listening to the real Floyd. The band played through most of The Wall during the first set and then most of Dark Side of the Moon during the second set. The stage was surronded with fire and spark cannons, graffiti cannons, and lasers. The backdrop to the stage was two screens displaying Floyd art and at one point, clips from Wizard of Oz. The air was filled with smoke from machines and smoke from the wacky tobaccy. Every wear I looked, I spotted somebody sparking up their stash. Old. Young. Male. Female. White. Black. Straight. Gay. It didnt matter. They were all there to get high and rock out to Floyd. Personally, I was just there to rock out to Floyd.

Dude the experience and musicianship are going to blow your mind. It will definately be worth the price of admission and you will regret not going. It is just going to be a night of excellent music man. I am most likely going on Thursday.

what he said..... it is unreal... I've seen Austrailian Pink Floyd, the only PF tribute band officially recognized by the real members and the St. Louis PF blow them away.... you'll be amazed. Should pick up Dark Side of the Moon album as they play the entire album during the first set before intermission. GO... you won't regret it. -Matt

Yes this is a concert by a tribute band called El Monstero who will put on a 3 1/2 hour set in which their will be effects, they have choir voices, mix tables everything in order produce the next best thing to Pink Floyd that they can. They are performing December 21, 22 and the 23rd at the Pageant here in St. Louis Missouri. If intrested look into maybe going but be quick from what I'm told this is a very well respect tribute band and they are expected to fill the place. SuperSloth03

I saw that! It was freakin awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! The laser show was GREAT and they sounded just like PF! It was a sold out show too. Anyone else who saw it like it?

It would be great difficulty to duplicate Gilmour's sound. I've heard bands that were close, but no cigar. Plus the amount of money need for the equipment is downright ludicrous. Piper@Gates

Yeah, it probably was very expensive, but they put on a great show anyways. I could only IMAGINE how much they had to practice to sound so much like PF...

So don't hate me but I was never a big Floyd fan HOWEVER after I saw El Monstero last December in St. Louis I converted! This show was wicked hot, a group of my friends (about 16 of them) go every year and I was glad I went with them last year. The laser show rocks and it's well worth the $$. The music is awesome. Tickets sell out usually the same day they go on sale, be quick my friends. See ya there!!

Nothing says the holidays like gathering around the fire and singing such traditional songs of the season as "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Another Brick in the Wall." Although certainly not your typical holiday carols, those Pink Floyd songs have become a December tradition at the Pageant. For the eighth year in a row, El Monstero y Los Masked Avengers will be performing a Pink Floyd tribute show in St. Louis. And it's become so popular that the concert is booked for three consecutive nights next week. Tribute bands seem to be everywhere these days, so what makes this one so popular? For one thing, the performers go all out to re-create the Pink Floyd concert experience - complete with lasers, props (such as a wall) and video duplicating the footage Pink Floyd actually used in performance. But it all comes down to the music, and El Monstero (made up primarily of members of the local band Stir) does an excellent job on that front as well. The Dec. 23 show has been sold out for weeks.

Los Masked Avengers
The Pageant, December 27 and 28, 2002

by Michele Ulsohn

El Monstero, the Pink Floyd tribute act consisting of members from Stir along with various other local musicians, including John Pessoni, former Urge drummer, and a guest appearance by Michael Schaerer, played two near-capacity shows at the Pageant on the last weekend of the year. Performing songs mostly from The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon, the band accented their show with laser lights, identical video footage from Pink Floyd’s mid-’90s tour, three female backup vocalists, and a few authentic-looking props. During the show’s Wall segments, the extremely enigmatic Mark Quinn (from the Impala Deluxe band) used his acting skills to their fullest potential, creating a very realistic portrayal of the “Pink” character from the record’s movie. And Andy Schmidt’s fluid guitar solos are strong enough to impress even David Gilmour himself. Overall, the performance is a well-rehearsed and professional-quality production that could successfully be taken on a cross-country tour, but instead, the band has chosen to play exclusively in their hometown of St. Louis for what has now become a holiday tradition for the fifth year in a row.
